ATTENTION QUEERS

I’m doing research for a project at my work (I’m a domestic violence advocate) on violence in LGBT relationships and I’d love your imput.   If you have experience with dating/domestic/intimate partner violence in a queer relationship and you are comfortable sharing your story, you can message me here, or email kristen.e.stone(at)gmail(dot)com.   Especially interested in intersectionality: (how) did the queer dimensions of your relaitonship affect the abuse and vice versa? Did your partner ‘use’ your identity/ies as a means of control? Did you seek help from a DV hotline or center and, if so, what was your experience? What kind of support system did you have when you were trying to get out of or end the relationship? Did being in the closet affect how and whether you were able to get the support you needed?

I’m also seeking recommendations of media (music, movies, literature) that depict or address violence in queer relationships (even if the representation is problematic.)
Your imput will help train domestic violence advocates around LGBT issues and help create programs for queer survivors in my community.   (please repost and share as you see fit) xo
